DETAILS

Since 1993, the CCID Board members have sponsored a Water Awareness Scholarship for graduating high school seniors.  In order to qualify, students must be graduating from (1) one of the five school districts within the CCID service area, or (2) from any high school, provided that the student’s parents or grandparents either farm or own land in CCID or in any of the other member agencies of the San Joaquin River Exchange Contractors.  Since District money cannot be used for this purpose, our Board members each contribute $100.00 of their own money every year to fund the scholarship.

The winner is selected by the Board’s Scholarship Committee on the basis of an application form and an essay about CCID and water issues that affect the local area.  A list of the past winners is shown on the back of this letter.

Since 1999, we have requested donations from our consumers and business partners, and as a result, we have been able to offer multiple scholarships each year.  Last year, we were able to award nine scholarships, for a total of $7,250.00, and we are hoping to be able to do even more this year.  We want to thank all who have contributed to our scholarship fund in past years.

We are again asking for your financial support, and will gladly accept any contribution that you are able to make.  Checks should be made payable to the CCID Scholarship Fund, and mailed or delivered to the CCID Main Office, 1335 West I Street (P.O. Box 1231), Los Banos, CA 93635.

If you have any questions or comments, please contact Marianne Martin, the District’s Secretary-Controller, at (209) 826-1421.
